I love when school work is actually useful

Last week, I had to write a paper comparing two public relations news wire services. Basically, company's give their releases to these wire services, who then distribute them to media outlets all over the world.

The assignment was tedious, but I did get to check out some pretty rad press releases. (Yes, I just used the term rad, get over it.)

REI has recently created a site called where you can download a 10-song winter sports playlist...for free. That's right, 10 FREE songs to listen to while you're getting your ski/snowboard/snowmobile on!

From their press release on Businesswire.com:

The national outdoor gear and apparel retailer partnered with nine of the most recognized winter sports brands to create new music by some of todays up-and-coming and hottest artists. REI teamed with Burton, K2, Marmot, Ride, Rossignol, Smith, Salomon, The North Face, and Völkl to develop a site offering a wide diversity of music. Bands featured on REIGoPlaylist.com are American Analog Set, Apples in Stereo, Au Revoir Simone, Eagles of Death Metal, Ohmega Watts, Persephones Bees, Quadrillion, Robbers on High Street, Saxon Shore and The Rentals.

So go on, check it out. Download some free tunes to get you in the zone while your skiing down that mogul run. (If I were skiing down a mogul run, I would't be able to listen to any music- that stuff requires full concentration for snow-a-phobes like me!)
