Roller Disco?

Mar 9, 2010

Hot-pink

Ok, picture this: Thibault and I are in a local student pub drinking cider with his friends on a Friday night. It's relatively loud, making Thibault's accent even more difficult to understand than usual. Ha.

Thibault: Do you like roller?

Alana: Huh?

Thibault: You know, roller. Like the shoes and the wheels?

Alana: Ooooh, roller skating! Um I haven't done it since I was really little but, I guess so...

Well, apparently I'm going with him to a "roller disco" on Thursday night. Hopefully I won't fall flat on my face. I really think the last time I went roller skating was at an 8-year-old friend's birthday party...or maybe a bat mitzvah. Either way, it was probably close to ten years ago.

I should probably warn Thibault that he's going to lose feeling in his fingers by the end of the night- I squeeze tight when I get scared.

Now, the only thing left to figure out: what the heck does one wear to a roller disco? (I'm thinking something bright, like the neon hue of the boots I spotted above.)

Neon is quite good in deed :) and don't worry about falling, I used to teach my little cousin how to roller skate on a slippery downhill road. We will be just fine ;)

I suggest not a skirt or dress in case you fall. Jeggings and a fun, flowy top?

But mostly, make sure you wear socks. And tall-ish ones so you don't wind up with blisters on the backsides of your ankles (upper heels?).

I believe Jackie wore rainbow striped knee socks, white satin hot pants and matching jacket and a jaunty neck scarf when she and Fez won the roller disco contest on That 70s Show. Good luck and don't lean back!
Love,
Donna
